Right! I posted an entry about things that weren't The Goes Wrong Show, and everyone's very proud of me. Time to reward myself with more Goes Wrong fanfiction.

Title: Chekhov's Knife

Summary: Robert has the perfect plan for making things up to Chris after the Chekhov's Gun incident. Well, maybe 'perfect' isn't the right word.
Warnings: S... sort of self-harm? It's pretty atypical as self-harm goes, but this is a fic about Robert going 'well, I've injured Chris; obviously our relationship will be fixed if I can get Chris to injure me in return.'

Okay, I'm going to be very brave and make a post that's not about The Goes Wrong Show. Let's talk about videogames! You wouldn't know it from my determination to talk about Robert Grove five hundred percent of the time, but I have played a couple of interesting games lately.

The games in question are Silent Hill f and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. They're substantially different in gameplay and tone, but they're both on the theme of 'weird, intense, supernatural coming-of-age stories about young women'.

Okay! That's your allotted entry about other things. Let's get back to working on my fifteenth Goes Wrong fic.

Apparently I posted fourteen Goes Wrong fics over the course of two months? Not counting the fifty-two Goes Wrong fills I wrote for the Three-Sentence Ficathon? I'm personally responsible for over 20% of the Chris Bean/Robert Grove fics on AO3. This might be the most severely and swiftly a fandom has ever eaten me.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to sustain my Goes Wrong illness, but I'm having a great time while it lasts!

Hawke is nowhere to be found.

It’s like Varric’s soul had been ejected from his body and a spirit is piloting it; Varric shoves past bodies closing in around the Inquisitor—too close, he cannot breathe. When Enid’s gaze meets him, the elven woman freezes. She’s ashen and sweaty.

“Where’s Hawke?”

He sounds like a lost child, even to his own ears.

“Where’s Sorley, Enid?”

Enid’s expression breaks and hardens in one jerk of her head. She walks past him, momentarily pressing her hand onto his shoulder. She squeezes it then walks forward, her voice sharp and solid as she announces the cost of their victory.

GUESS WHICH BITCH GOT TO THAT CHOICE! GUESS WHO CHOSE SAD VARRIC HOURS! AGAIN!!

All silliness aside, I am in an angsty-writing mood, and that turning point feels absolutely rife with fun little moments. This WIP doesn't quite have a title, but it's definitely going to be a lose collection of stories centered around the aftermath of the Fort Adamant assault. So far, planned plotlines include:

Varric & Cassandra interactions. I ship these fuckers so hard, though I think a lot of this will be solely platonic relationship building. Unless
Blackwall's whole personal quest and his relationship with my Inquisitor, Enid. In the game, he always places her on such a pedestal, so I think it'll be fun to have that get a little broken when it comes to Enid's backstory lol
My Hero of Fereldan just showing the fuck up. I know why Bioware didn't want to insert the Warden into Inquisition, but I really think it a missed opportunity. Like??? Morrigan, Leliana, and Cullen are all there, so there's some very funny interactions that could happen. Also Fiona getting absolutely fucking grilled by a Alistair-romanced Grey Warden.
Morrigan just avoiding the Warden because the last proper interactions they've had was "let me bang your boyfriend" and "what do you mean we're still friends????" Like, how the FUCK do you recover from that?
I also have a fun Iron Bull/Warden interaction (read: non-romantic smut) twirling in my brain. So many characters involved with this scene are bad with feelings lmao
Anders not having a good time with Hawke's death. How much of a plot point is it beyond references are a bit beyond me atm, but it'll still be there.

It doesn’t have to be a literal harbor, of course. It could be the final exit off the highway after a multi-week road trip from hell, or the first sign of familiar houses as you take a well-worn path home after too long away, or the sight of an old friend coming to greet you in a crowd of hostile strangers. The important part is that you know the worst is over; you’re safe now, or close enough.

Write a story about a safe harbor (literal or metaphorical).

So I like to listen to the Trek Ranks podcast every now and then. Basically, they pick a category (like "scenes at a table" or "best one-off characters") and then come up with a Top 5 list for it pulled from all of Star Trek. It's always a lot of fun to listen to. (But also full of spoilers for stuff I haven't seen yet, oops 😅)

Anyway, the most recent episode I listened to was Top 5 One-Word Titles. The host mentioned how Voyager has the most one-word titles of all the Treks, which I thought was really interesting. But then they only ended up picking like two or three episodes from Voyager! So I decided, I will make my own Top 5 list just for fun, featuring only one-word episode titles from Voyager 😁

These are not necessarily in order, as I think I'd shuffle them around on a whim.

I've been quiet here since school started because A LOT of things have been on my plate lately in my personal life. Bleh.

Anyway, with Ao3 recently being down again, I was wondering if I should maybe actually look into crossposting my fics elsewhere too...? I see a lot of folks use SquidgeWorld, but I've also heard it's sort of pro-censorship? I see a lot of mixed opinions. If any of you strongly like or dislike it, let me know your thoughts about using it. Otherwise, I've considered posting them here or perhaps making my own website. Making a website has always interested me but I'm a bit intimidated by the idea of building something like that myself. I have extremely little experience with coding...

I sadly haven't been writing that much since I haven't been in a good headspace. I'm hoping I can get back into writing the Genshin fic my partner and I have been working on. Honestly, I'm just waiting for it to be time for Anime Boston. (We have about a month!) I need a weekend where I don't think about anything that's been stressing me out. My partner and I will be cosplaying again so I've been working on those when I can. Not sure if there's gonna be any panels or anything we wanna do in particular yet.

Speaking of cons, I might have some new mutuals here from the recent Citrus Con and their adjacent BL server. If that's you, hello!!! I promise I'm not always a downer and actually talk about BL sometimes lol.

I am 220 pages into The Stolen Throne, and I'm already annoyed with the how the romantic subplot is being handled. I love me a romantic subplot but ugh not a fan of what it's done to Rowan. What do you mean Maric just no-guilt sleeps with a "random" woman and Rowan is left to be a good betrothed?? Out of curiosity, I read up on her fate and what do you mean she's fridged for The Calling?

Fuck you, justice for Rowan!

Also, I'm having a hard time believing Rowan and Maric are in love. Their betrothal feels a bit more lavender-coded. May eventually play around with a mostly-canon compliant fic centered around her and give her death a bit more dignity. And the attempts at yearning need to go harder. Duty vs love is a great theme for everyone, I wish it leaned a bit harder on it.

What i do like about it, though, is the general dynamic between Maric, Lorraine, and Rowan. They're great, I love them, and Loghain has two hands.

logs of games and i really should be pondering a february wrap-up instead ... i gotta start writing that ... on a different semi-game adjacent thing but not really: im getting a new laptop today. my current one is still kicking and alive, but i talked about it here

grubs all found, and i've mostly been knocking out collectibles; the 15 hearts door was a little scary, but plopping a waypoint there and just teleporting back after using the 2 health charms + yoinking 2 extra hearts out of dirtmouth resolved it. my stupid ass forgot to pick up the ancient egg there though :/ i thought i'd have to backtrack to get out but nope ... been trying to do some of the dream variants of bosses and god damn it sucks LOL

tbf bosses that delete 2 hp bars and give you no breathing time to recover i do suck at. otherwise trying to finish the 3rd coliseum challenge and get more geo to at least upgrade my fragile health + greed charm before i start worrying about getting the unbreaking strength geo saved up (UGHHHH)

mostly been focused on fossil collecting, i did a giant beetle hunt overnight and capped out my box (plus two sharks) since i'm trying to get enough bells for the museum renovation before i worry about other public work projects ... kid cat moved out fully, and i used an "amiibo" (coughs wumiibo) to get bob to move in and kick out rizzo. im pretty happy with my town rn ... i wouldn't mind if ed moved out but i also don't dislike him. marcie is still on my mild shitlist for reselling the mic i sold her (and her house is so out of the way of everyone else LOL)

I was kinda in the BNHA fandom before but I've fallen off watching the show ages ago so, anything I may write for it now will hardly be canon-compliant. I do occassionally read fics still, cause the rest of my fandoms are barren. I mean I've been reading fics for anime and shows I have not seen lately so eh, if the fic is good then whatever.

My other reviews of anime and manga will probably appear here, and fanfiction I write as well as original fiction occasionally. And just whatever else I want to post.
